Saida’s journey began in a family where higher education for girls wasn’t a given. With the support of TUI Futureshapers and the TUI Academy Zanzibar, she was able to gain entrepreneurship skills, leadership training, and a strong understanding of sustainability. She became one of the few female tour guides on the island of Zanzibar.
Now, as a social entrepreneur, she’s paying it forward. Through the TUI Futureshapers programme of the TUI Care Foundation, Saida has co-founded her own social enterprise, the Ubunifu Foundation. She’s already supported nearly 100 young people in their journey of personal development and social entrepreneurship.
Recently, Saida took to the stage at the 3rd UN LDC Future Forum in Zambia, to share her insights on empowering young people as social entrepreneurs in vulnerable communities. Representing Ubunifu Foundation and the TUI Futureshapers programme, she joined the panel discussion on "Future Shapers of Resilience Building in LDCs", dedicated to highlighting youth-led innovations that are helping to shape a more resilient future in Least Developed Countries. Saida shared her insights about the role of education, mentorship and digital innovation in overcoming the barriers young entrepreneurs face, especially when it comes to funding and market access.
