The TUI Care Foundation has launched its e-Academy to provide access to digital education in tourism destinations for disadvantaged young people and those already working in tourism.
The online learning platform has been developed in partnership with specialist eLearning and training company, common sense, and powered by atingi in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The TUI e-Academy is a digital learning platform which provides access to digital education in tourism destinations It offers learners the skills they need to consolidate and expand their knowledge and promotes employment development through upskilling and reskilling. Its aim is to provide free, high-quality online training to empower employability and job creation in tourism destinations worldwide.
The e-Academy harnesses the enormous potential of inclusive digitalisation in education for everyone everywhere, by offering free and relevant learning content in the form of self-paced learning courses.
Its storytelling approach, the use of interactive elements, case studies, and testimonials from people working in the industry, ensure that the content is interesting and stimulating.
Thanks to its digital nature, the TUI e-Academy provides learning opportunities to everyone around the world, from young self-starters to established tourism professionals. The courses are self-paced, which means that participants can learn at their own pace, whenever and wherever they want.
The Career Academy offers an excellent opportunity to kick-start a career in tourism destinations. The courses help participants learn about the different careers in tourism and hospitality, understand the basics of the industry and gain a first-hand insight into the skills required. They cover a variety of job roles within the industry including tour guiding, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and explain the range of skills required to be successful.
The Sustainability Academy provides a range of courses designed to upskill and reskill tourism professionals working in environmental management, social governance and sustainability. The courses aim to equip learners with the knowledge and tools they need to make their organisation a frontrunner in sustainability and create a positive impact on the world.
Online learning is delivered by professionals from across the tourism industry, ensuring that learners receive training content that meets the practical requirements of the industry. Combining a storytelling approach, the use of interactive elements with case studies, and testimonies from people working in industry, the e-Academy aims to convey high-quality learning in an appealing and entertaining way.
Upon completion of every course, each learner will be awarded a badge, endorsed by major brands in the tourism industry and which recognises their newly acquired skills.

atingi is the digital learning platform launched by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and was implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in 2019. It harnesses the potential of digital technology and offers free learning opportunities worldwide that comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Users are able to access quality online courses at any time, which helps them improve their employment opportunities. atingi was developed by a team of digital experts and works closely with Smart Africa, the digital initiative launched by the African Union, and with several other partners from the private sector, politics, academia and civil society.
About common sense
