Working together to break down barriers and build a more equitable and inclusive society for women has never been more important. And on International Women’s Day and every day, we can all play our part in making it happen.
For the TUI Care Foundation, inspiring inclusion and empowering women is a guiding principle. Part of its DNA. The driving force behind its global TUI Academy programme, which offers vocational education and career opportunities to young people, especially women, from vulnerable communities.
In the Dominican Republic and Thailand, the TUI Care Foundation’s carefully chosen TUI Academy partner is international development organisation Plan International, which works to advance equality for girls and young women. 60% of the students at both of these TUI Academies are women. They receive vocational training and life skills modules on personal development, job readiness, sexual and reproductive health and rights and financial literacy. They learn how to protect themselves from exploitation and increase their opportunities to obtain decent work. At the end of their training, they’re empowered to overcome obstacles and pursue a career in the tourism industry.
Education and awareness play a vital role in fostering inclusion and empowering women, and the TUI Academies provide the support and resources needed to help young women achieve their full potential.
So, let’s continue building a more inclusive world for women in tourism and creating positive, lasting change.
