From mountain to mangrove, forest to field and city to sea – looking after planet earth is a responsibility for all of us. Which is why the TUI Care Foundation’s work caring for the natural world is so important. From coral reef restoration in Bali, to keeping sand and sea plastic free in Cyprus, to planting 1.9 million native trees in the high Andean forests or protecting endangered species in Kenya, it drives the protection of natural habitats and the marine environment in tourism destinations around the world.
Every year on April 22nd, International Mother Earth Day on April 22nd sees people from across the world coming together to show their support for the environment and the need to protect and restore our planet. This year’s theme is ‘Our Power, Our Planet’, which emphasises the importance of uniting efforts to accelerate the transition to renewable energy and address climate change, ultimately striving for a more sustainable future.
With oceans filling with plastic, and extreme heat, wildfires and floods becoming increasingly common, taking care of the planet and its ecosystems is more important than ever. Earth Day reminds us to take action, whether it’s cutting down on waste, making more eco-friendly fashion choices, switching to renewable energy, or eating less meat, fish and dairy. And it inspires us to do more - so why not create a wildlife friendly garden or join a conservation project?
Whether it’s a small lifestyle change or direct conservation action, let’s use our power to protect our planet.
