As part of our Destination Zero Waste Cyprus project, we’ve been promoting together with our local partner Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative plastic pollution reduction on the local beaches. Due to continues work we’ve officially opened two more plastic-free beaches on Cyprus, making eight plastic-free beaches in total!
These beaches are now equipped with:
- water stations for refillable bottles
- designated smoking areas to prevent litter
- beautiful murals created by local schoolchildren using recycled plastic bottles
The students shared the amazing stories behind their artwork to clean oceans and participated in a beach clean. We were also honoured to have Antonia Theodosiou, Environmental Commissioner of Cyprus, and Kostas Koumis, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus join us for the celebration.
