Destination zero-plastic

We are also signatories of the Global Tourism Plastic Initiative, which unites the tourism sector behind a common vision to address the root causes of plastic pollution. It enables businesses, governments, and other tourism stakeholders to take concerted action, leading by example in the shift towards a circularity in the use of plastics.

The TUI Care Foundation commits to:

• Raising awareness about plastic pollution and it’s impacts on life on land and below water amongst tourists and locals through its projects
• Addressing plastic pollution when evaluating and designing new projects
• Facilitating the sharing of best practices and tips amongst projects to reuse, reduce, recycle, upcycle and eliminate plastic, especially aiming at capturing the specificities of the context in which our projects operate (e.g. local regulations) to support building a knowledge base
• Communicating the activities and achievements of projects that have taken action against plastic pollution and connecting the achievements with the various areas of action of the GTPI to inspire further action
